Freestore Foodbank Events & Activities
| 2/29 – 3/18/12 | Fifth Annual Cinciditarod The fifth annual Raymond James Cinciditarod, benefiting the Freestore Foodbank, is planned for noon on Saturday March 3. Cinciditarod is a wacky shopping cart race through Cincinnati that starts and finishes on Fountain Square. It’s named in tribute to the Alaskan Iditarod, which is a brutal 1,100 mile dog-sled race. However, instead of dogs, it’s people; instead of sleds, it’s shopping carts; and instead of Alaska, it’s Cincinnati. While physically attached to a grocery cart, teams of five, dress in creative costumes, push through a nearly five-mile course over the city streets, picking up items on a grocery list and stopping at five mandatory checkpoints. If you’re interested in registering or want to learn more about the race…Click here. |
| Ongoing | Grassroots Efforts Members of the Greater Cincinnati community are urged to start their own grassroots efforts by organizing neighborhood food drives, collection challenges and/or learning about ways to volunteer. A great way to organize a neighborhood food drive is through the new virtual food drive, available at www.freestorefoodbank.org. |
