"2011 Holiday Distribution: Day 3."7,063 Families Served During Three-Day Distribution

The third day of December holiday food distribution just wrapped up for the evening. Enough holiday boxes were handed out Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to feed 7,063 families (or 9,713 adults and 9,834 children).

Each household received a box of food, a bag of produce, and either a chicken or turkey (depending on family size). While larger families received larger boxes, every family receives the following: canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned cranberry or pumpkin, stuffing or rice, onions, potatoes, apples, macaroni and cheese, and brownie mix or other dessert.

Ms. Claus and her elves were also on hand on Corwine Street Friday, passing out gifts to families who aren’t able to afford them otherwise.

The Freestore Foodbank also gave out presents as part of our Adopt-a-Family program. Click here to see video.

As we wrap up our holiday food distribution, we would like to say, “thank you” to all of our wonderful volunteers and donors for helping to make the holidays a little brighter for our neighbors in need. From all of us at the Freestore Foodbank…Happy Holidays!

**Please note: The Freestore Foodbank is closed December 24, 25 and 26
