Walk, run, join the fun! Get registered for the 10th Annual Hunger Walk & 5K Run to help feed children and families in our community.
New Year, New Route
We’re changing things up a bit this year. Thanks to Cheviot Savings Bank, walkers and runners are getting a little change in scenery this Memorial Day. A new route will take Hunger Walk participants across the Taylor-Southgate Bridge, through the streets of Newport, across the Purple People Bridge and ending at Sawyer Point just east of the P&G Pavilion.
We Walk to Feed Families
Every dollar raised through Hunger Walk registration fees and donations supports Freestore Foodbank partner agencies in the Tri-State – that’s more than 275 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, eldercare and childcare facilities, community centers and residential programs.
Stay Hydrated On Race Day
Volunteers with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Newport will host a water station for Hunger Walk participants on race day. St. Paul’s is a Freestore Foodbank partner agency, working tirelessly to help children and families who have fallen on hard times in Northern Kentucky.
Making a Difference in Northern Kentucky
With a choice pantry, open 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. the second Saturday of every month, St. Paul’s is working to address the issue of hunger.
“The need in Northern Kentucky, for the most part, is out of sight of everyday life,” says Deacon Tom Runge, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. “But it’s here. The need has definitely grown. We’re seeing more seniors and more families with children.”
Impacting Lives
St. Paul’s is providing fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, meats, and personal care items to our neighbors in need in Newport, Bellevue, Dayton, Wilder, Ft. Thomas and Southgate. By supporting St. Paul’s through Hunger Walk, you can help them impact lives in Northern Kentucky.
“Hunger Walk provides what we need from the Freestore Foodbank,” says Deacon Tom. “It provides us with quality food and a chance to get the word out that we’re working with other agencies to try to eliminate hunger in our community.”
So, Lace Up Those Sneakers!
Make a difference this Memorial Day. Support St. Paul’s or a member agency in the community where you live. We’ll see you May 27!
